Ho Chi Minh City’s District 1 Tax Sub-Department has been found not reporting VND1.44 trillion (US$69.2 million) of taxes to the state budget.

Rising net foreign direct investment will act as a foundation for a shaky local economy to anchor itself on firm ground.
Foreign investors last month disbursed $950 million in Vietnam, raising total net foreign direct investment (FDI) from January to September to $8.2 billion, up 2 per cent year-on-year.
In June and July, net FDI slightly declined 1.9 and 1.6 per cent on-year. It started to rebound in August 2011.

The State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) on September 28 issued a new circular focusing on abuses by banks trying to apply deposit interest rates higher than the permitted ceiling level of 14% per annum.
Under Circular 30, the ceiling interest rate for dong deposits with no term or terms shorter than one month is 6%. The ceiling on deposits with a one-month term or longer remains unchanged at 14% per year.
